EDIBLE PEACE

Fostering sustainable diets for climate action and world harmony.

Aloha! We are Laura and Markus, the passionate founders and owners of Edible Peace®, the home of mouthwatering artisan macadamia nut cream cheese made right here in Hawai’i.

Our journey began in the summer of 2018 when we embarked on a mission to bring peace to our plates and promote fairness through awareness. We were shocked to discover that many so-called fresh fruits and vegetables in Hawaiian grocery stores are imported, undermining our precious local food growers and creators and contributing to global warming. Hotels, too, were signing deals with greenwashing suppliers, shutting the door on the potential to support our community. This inspired us to take action.

Our offerings extend beyond delicious treats: We aim to challenge the import-heavy food economy plaguing our beautiful islands. By choosing locally grown organic ingredients, we take a step towards preserving our fragile ecosystems locally and globally. With more than 99% of our ingredients sourced from Hawai’i, we prioritize sustainability and act responsibly to protect our regional communities and our planet for future generations.

At Edible Peace®, we believe in transparency so you know where our ingredients and your food come from. Our island-friendly, planet-conscious products are vegan and locally made from locally grown organic ingredients. By supporting us, you support Hawai'i's economy and environment.

For a kinder, fairer, and more sustainable community.

Driven by our passion for promoting sustainable and locally sourced foods, we embarked on our journey under different names, like Spread the Love, Earthlings United, and Big Island Creamery. We sought a name that truly captured the essence of our products and mission. After much contemplation and feedback from our beloved customers, we finally found the perfect fit with Edible Peace®. This name resonates with our commitment to promoting peace on our plates and fostering harmony between humans by lowering the potential for global climate-related wars.

While we focus on plant-based foods, we don't preach a strict vegan diet. Instead, we encourage everyone to make mindful diet choices, considering what's adequate for our time, season, and region, just like our wise ancestors did. By reducing reliance on imported animal products and substituting them with locally grown plant-based equivalents, we can lower our ecological footprint and reduce unnecessary suffering among our fellow Earthlings.

Join us on this exciting journey of change. Find our artisan creations at local farmers' markets, restaurants, hotels, and grocery stores. Allow yourself to let go of outdated, unsustainable choices and venture into the new, exciting, and fun flavors our Hawaiian farmers, chefs, and food creators offer.

Together, we can create a harmonious world on our plates and beyond. Savor the taste of positive change with every bite of our lovingly crafted artisan products.

Mahalo for supporting our vision of a kinder, fairer, and more sustainable NOW.

About 85-90% of Hawaii’s food is imported, which makes it particularly vulnerable to natural disasters and global events that might disrupt shipping and the food supply.
